Adventure Day 7 - 2/28/09

Today's 50 Day Adventure Scripture passage is Revelation 13 - the text I'll be preaching on tomorrow and again next Sunday. Read it carefully and prayerfully. Like many, I am interested in the identities of the first and second beast mentioned here. More important, however, is what this absolute evil world dictatorship will do. That is spelled out quite clearly in these verses, and it is rather unpleasant. The spiritual battle referred to in this reading is not make-believe. It is at the center of all that is taking place in the world. Even now, the forces of good and evil, light and darkness, the Lamb and the Dragon, God and Satan, wrestle for advantage. What is true in the global sense is also the case in our individual lives, and in our life together as a church family. There is a "cosmic battle" going on, and we're in the cross hairs.

[Read Revelation 13:1-18] What parts of this chapter remind you of yesterday's reading, Daniel 7? The identity of the Dragon is given in Revelation 12:7-9. What is this Dragon doing in Revelation 13? The Dragon and two beasts have one overall purpose in mind....what is it?

Now, let me add one more thought.... is it possible that what is being described may be happening in our time? Hmmm...Stay tuned to a sermon near you....
