Adventure Day 12 - 3/5/09

One of my fond memories with my oldest son, Josiah, is having him teach me how to snowboard. "Boarders" use some very unusual language. One example is the word "poser." It is used for someone who pretends to be something/someone that they're not; particularly those who have the expensive snowboard, bindings, boots, clothing, etc., but hardly can do a run down the hill.

Today's assigned Bible passage is about posers [Read Revelation 3:1-6]. Christ condemns the folk at the church in Sardis because they have this "...reputation of being alive, but are actually dead." Ouch! V.2 commands them "to wake up!" and "...strengthen what is about to die." Jesus then offers the church steps toward renewal [take a close look at v.3]...what are those steps? How might this counsel apply to you personally...to our church family? What danger does Jesus warn of if his counsel is not heeded?

Today, don't be a poser...be the real deal.
