Adventure Day 19 - 3/12/09

How are you doing? Are you able to keep up with these daily Adventure readings and devotional thoughts? I really am grateful to the many of you who have responded to the challenge of this 50-Day Adventure. I'm hearing some good feedback from several of you.

Take a look at today's passage [Read Numbers 16:1-22] - the record of Korah's rebellion. What would you say is the nature of the problem between Korah, his followers and Moses? From the words they speak with Moses, what attitudes and mindsets can be observed? Are you surprised at God's response to this rebellious group (note v. 21). What might this reveal in terms of God's attitude toward a nation of ungrateful complainers?

Scripture often counsels us regarding the attitude we have toward our leaders, whoever they may be. As one example, 1 Timothy 2:1-3 states, "I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity." Korah and his followers could have used a healthy dose of such counsel. How about you?

What are our attitudes toward our Nation's leadership. Our State's leadership? Our Church denomination's leadership, our local Church leadership? Our attitude toward those in authority over us reveals much about our real attitude toward God [note Numbers 16:11].

As you finish reading this post, take a moment to pray for those in authority over you....1) Ask God to help them; 2)intercede on their behalf; and 3) give thanks for them.
