Adventure Day 34 - 3/27/09
The Adventure text today is a record of Jesus and his evangelism effort to a Samaritan village [Read John 4:1-42]. What began as a friendly conversation between two unlikely friends became a two day harvest of souls (see v. 40 & 41).
Evangelism is one of the key characteristics of an awakened church. When God 's people begin to renew their allegiance to him, others outside the church take notice and are drawn to authentic revival. For some, their lives are changed for eternity.
In his popular book, Experiencing God, Henry Blackaby writes: "You need to know what God has on His agenda for your church, community, and nation at this time in history. Then you and your church can adjust your lives to God, so that He can move you into the mainstreams of his activity before it is too late." Adjusting our lives to God...isn't that what revival is all about? And when we adjust and wade into the mainstream of God's activity, lives are changed, marriages are saved, relationships are reconciled, and people come to know Jesus, active in our world.
Think of it, we have the option to identify with the workings of Christ's Spirit - or we can choose to ignore them. Open the door... or leave the latch untouched (Revelation 3:20).
It's time for a change.... let's open those doors!
God's Blessing, Friend...
Pastor Paul
Tailpiece: Today, remember to intercede for the greater Fargo/Moorhead Community as they face the flooding Red River. Pray for the Covenant Church in Fargo, and for Christ's Church in the whole area...that the Body of Christ might make God smile as we serve those in crisis.
