Adventure Day 25 - 3/18/09
Welcome to the halfway point in our 50-Day Adventure! I am thankful for so many of you who are tracking along in these daily readings and devotional thoughts. To those who may be just joining us....welcome!
Last Sunday's message was a challenge to take even more seriously our role of praying (interceding) for the loved ones and lost ones in our lives. I challenged each of us to four action or application steps:
1. Write down a list of names in your "Circle of Love" (those people nearest and dearest to you) and a second list of those in your life who you sense haven't entered into relationship with Christ yet ("Bringing My World to Christ" list).
2. Think through what you have to give each of these special individuals that has eternal value.
3. To the best of your ability, write down your present, 5- and 10-year hopes for them as prayer requests.
These first 3 assignments should be started immediately, as they will no doubt take a while to complete. Here's the fourth one....
4. Examine your own life. What changes is the Lord asking you to make?
Now for today's Adventure passage...[Read Revelation 11:1-19] In vv. 15 and following, all heaven breaks loose with a chorus to celebrate a day still future to us, when God an his Christ have begun their unchallenged reign. As a string musician, this phrase announces one of my favorite moments in Handel's Messiah. Oh, what a day that will be! By the way, what do you make of these two heroic witnesses to God (vv. 3 and following)? What most strikes you about their mission?
God's Peace, friend.... and look up,
Pastor Paul
